What is this?

In this cozy little puzzler, you take on the role of an alchemist who the whole town turns to whenever they have any problem. You'll have strangers approach with strange problems and be tasked with crafting solutions like an alchemist: by combining items and discovering a literally-infinite amount of recipes.

NPCs, quests, dialogue, items, and recipes are all generated by AI in this short technical demo of the new Chroma Golem AI API.

How to Play

When your first stranger appears with a problem, you'll have a random assortment of items in your inventory to craft a solution with.

Drag and drop any item onto your workbench. Combine items by dragging one item onto another. Each time you combine two items, you'll add a copy of it to your inventory to keep creating with!

When you've crafted the perfect item for your stranger's dilemma, just drag and drop it into their submission box. If they think it'll help, you'll earn coins that you can use to buy more ingredients. Depending on how happy they are with your crafted item, they'll tip you some random items out of their pockets to help with your next stranger, too!

State of the Game

This is just a quick demo built over the past couple days that we wanted some initial feedback on what parts are fun and what parts aren't.

We're also planning to add the following features, but we'd love to hear what else you would add!

  • A shop where you can spend your coins to buy specific items (and sell your unwanted items)
  • A recipe book where you can browse through all the recipes you've discovered

Thank you for taking the time to play our demo! We've had a blast making it and even more fun playing it; and I hope you enjoy it too!

Elixir Emporium is a technical demo from Chroma Golem, where we're experimenting with new ways to incorporate AI into games. We also run the Chroma Golem Discord for game devs that we'd love to see you at — for feedback and also to hear about your games!
